Both perform beautifully in the PNW - but for different homes and different priorities. Here's how we help homeowners choose.
Cedar gives you natural warmth, dimension, and a centuries-proven track record in Pacific Northwest climates. It needs a maintenance cycle every 5–8 years depending on exposure.
Hardi-board (fiber cement) is dimensionally stable, fire-resistant, and color-stable. It costs more up front but the maintenance cycle stretches significantly longer.
For heritage neighborhoods we often default to cedar. For new builds with HOA color requirements or high-exposure elevations, Hardi-board frequently wins. We'll walk your home and recommend per-elevation.
